Angel Díaz-Lagares graduated in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) in 2002. He completed his residency in Clinical Biochemistry (2003-2007) at the University Clinic of Navarra (CUN), where he also developed his Doctoral Thesis, obtaining in 2009 his PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology.
He developed his clinical activity in different Hospitals, and carried out his postdoctotal research (2011-2016) on Cancer Epigenetics in Dr. Manel Esteller´s laboratory at IDIBELL. During this period he participated in national and international projects, studying epigenetic alterations based on DNA methylation and non-coding RNAs with clinical utility in cancer.
In 2016 he joined the Translational Medical Oncology (Oncomet) Group and since 2018 he is a “Juan Rodés” researcher (ISCIII) in this group. His research line is based on the identification and clinical evaluation of new epigenetic biomarkers through the analysis of tumor samples and liquid biopsy to achieve precision oncology. He is the PI of several research projects, author of several book chapters and patents, and he has published numerous articles in prestigious international scientific journals, such as Nature Communications, PNAS or Lancet Oncology.
